Club Sonar Fleet
Club Sonar Scheme
The Club operates an imaginative scheme whereby it co-owns a fleet of nine Sonar Keelboats. This scheme makes the boats available to the Club for use in team and match racing events, coaching and more general use. The co-ownership arrangement overcomes the age-old problem of maintenance of Club assets and places this responsibility on the co-owning members. In return, those members enjoy the opportunity to use the boats for racing.
The Sonar is a 7metre keelboat usually sailed by four people but can be handled by fewer and will accommodate more. They are comfortable and sea kindly craft, but retain a level of performance that will please most. The fleet provides a great platform for coaching in keelboats, which is not readily available elsewhere. Another popular use of the Sonars is for team building and corporate events.
