Ceilidh Cup Match Racing Report
Nine teams entered the 2011 Ceilidh Cup which took place at the Club on the 15th and 16th October.
There was good, consistent wind over the course of the weekend and a full round robin was sailed in the Club’s fleet of Sonars. The top three boats were all tied on six points but it was Club member, Griogair Whyte, who was victorious as he beat both Allan Lennox and Ed Harrison, from Durham University, in two close matches. Allan claimed second place as he managed to gain the upper hand against Ed in their race.
As the winner of the Ceilidh Cup, Griogair and his team have secured a place at the RYA Match Racing Championships.
There was some great racing and a lot of close matches. I would like to say a great well done to all the competitors and a huge thank you to the race committee and the RNCYC for putting on another great event, and to the boat owners for the use of the Sonars for the weekend.
