Sailing

The upper reaches of the Clyde, which are directly accessed from the Club, offer some of the best racing available anywhere in the country and provide a gateway to an extensive cruising area both in and beyond the Clyde.

With the key aim of promoting sailing the Club has an extensive range of facilities:

  • The Club is an approved RYA training facility with courses available in dinghies, keel boats and powerboats.
  • Individual and group coaching from our qualified RYA instructor.
  • Club boats for use by members and anyone wishing to learn to sail, including Optimists, Fevas and Sonars.
  • Racing for keelboats with regular round the buoys racing in the Gareloch and East Patch.
  • Racing for National and International classes including National, European and World Championships.
  • Team and Match racing at both National and International level, including overseas and invitation events.
  • Cruising musters in and around the Clyde area.
  • Moorings for all sizes of boats, with a launch service running seven days a week until dusk throughout the sailing season.
  • Secure winter storage ashore for boats.
